The Big Mac Index

As presented by FlowingData, the Economist's Big Mac Index is an easy to understand measure of inflation and purchasing power in different countries. Simply, it measures how much a Big Mac cheeseburger costs in each of these economies, presented as both a raw number and also adjusted for local incomes.

Question: Why is the Big Mac so cheap in India?

  1. Why is the Big Mac so cheap in India?

I think it is because the demand for Big Mac in India is relatively low. Also, McDonald's is not very popular in India. This makes the price of a Big Mac cheap.
Local tax can also determine the price of the Big Mac in one country.
Another factor can be the cost of products in the country. Also the cost of labor can affect the price, and i think this the most significant factor in contributing the Big Mac price in India.
